All products are perfectly safe for everyone. This is known because regularly-collected samples of the algae and the water from which it comes are subjected to a wide variety of scientific analysis and tests.

It is important to remember that these testing standards, far exceed those of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. There is no food product we know of that undergoes more stringent quality and purity control analysis and tests.

The samples which are tested are taken daily, and in every batch of product, to ensure that all Blue Green Algae products are safe, pure and healthful.

DOES Blue Green Algae PRODUCE A NEUROTOXIN?

Blue Green Algae, made of Aphanizomenon flos-aquae from Upper Klamath Lake, has not produced a neurotoxin in the fifteen years that Blue Green Algae has been tested.

Of greater importance is the constant testing and microscopic examination of the algae being harvested, to make certain no toxic conditions exist.

HOW ARE THE PRODUCTS TESTED FOR THE PRESENCE OF NEUROTOXINS?

Every day, a sample of fresh algae is taken and analyzed to determine the species is pure Aphanizomenon flos-aquae. These tests show that the algae in the lake is usually 99% Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, with the small remainder being Pediastrum boryanum, a non-toxic algae.

To double check and to insure the algae are totally toxin-free, a series of precise biochemical assays are made. A test called an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is used to check for any toxins from a different algae called Microcystis.

The Company also double checks for neurotoxins, produced by Anabaena flos aquae. Among other tests, the very advanced technology of high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), is used. This test easily identifies the presence of even trace amounts of any such organic substances.

These tests are part of an entire series of tests done on every batch of Blue Green Algae.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER SPECIES OF ALGAE IN UPPER KLAMATH LAKE THAT COULD PRODUCE TOXINS?

Other algae, such as Microcyctis could grow in Upper Klamath Lake and could produce toxins under certain conditions, but the constant sampling, testing, and examination keeps ensuring that the Blue Green Algae products are always pure Aphanizomenon flos-aquae.

IS THE LAKE POLLUTED WITH AGRICULTURAL RUN OFF?

No. Upper Klamath Lake is an active, flowing body of water, that rapidly moves millions of gallons of water from its sources (the Rivers of Light) to its southern end and the harvest site. It is a thriving, clean ecosystem that is regularly tested.

WHAT WATER QUALITY TESTS ARE CONDUCTED?

Every 15 minutes, water is checked for temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, resistance (measuring ions) and density.

These tests reveal the precise purity of the water, and they are conducted at the harvest site, to ensure the data directly relates to the water from which the Blue Green Algae is harvested .

WHAT IS BEING DONE TO KEEP THE LAKE CLEAN?

Cell Tech's corporate commitment to maintain the purity of this magnificent source of our products is simply enormous.

To ensure the future cleanliness and purity of this magnificent resource, the Company works regularly with community, regional, and state groups involved in ensuring water quality for this geographical area, and is constantly creating and participating in environmental programs aimed at keeping Upper Klamath Lake pure and clean.

IS THE ALGAE SAFE FOR CHILDREN AND THE ELDERLY?

Absolutely. Here is the fact: There has never been a medical report of a toxic reaction related to the consumption of any of these blue green algae products.
